The 17th Annual Mississippi Blues Marathon will take place in downtown Jackson, Mississippi’s capital city. With live music before, after, and throughout the course, the Mississippi Blues Marathon proves to be one-of-a-kind. Since our inaugural race in 2008, our event has worked to showcase Jackson and the rich Blues history of the state, with a portion of proceeds going to the Blues Foundation and its efforts to support local Blues Musicians.Challenge yourself with the marathon or half-marathon, or take things a little easier with our 10K or 5K. You can even create a team of five runners and tackle the course as a relay team. Four of you take on five-mile legs with the final runner going the 6.2 miles to the end.
Start/Finish Location
The Start/Finish area is located on George Street Just behind the MS State Capitol Complex. The exact location of the starting line is the eastern side of the MS State Capitol Building.
Race Start Times
Marathon, Half Marathon and Marathon Relay start at 7:30am
10K and 5K start at 8:00am
Time Limit
There will a seven-hour time limit for both the marathon and half marathon. Runners on the course after seven hours will be allowed to finish unsupported. Aid stations, marshals and traffic control will be removed from the course at 2:30 p.m.
Day Parking Info
There is plenty of parking all around the start/finish area in the downtown area of Jackson, MS. There will be law enforcement officers in the start/finish area but please don’t leave valuables visible in your car during the race. Mississippi Blues Marathon, LLC is not responsible for damage or loss to personal property.
Gear Check
If you need to stash some stuff, please take advantage of our gear check area. Gear check is located at the East Capitol Complex across the street from the actual finish line. 400 High Street, Jackson, MS! . Look for the banners marking the Gear Check and Race Day Packet Pickup area. Gear check will be open from 6:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Items left unclaimed will be donated to local charities on the Monday after the race. All bags left at gear check are subject to search.
Restrooms
There will be dozens of Portable Restrooms in the start/finish area at the East Capitol Plaza. 400 High Street – across the street from the MS State Capitol Complex. There are also restrooms every two miles on course at the aid stations.
Road Surfaces
If you live in Jackson or you’ve run the Blues, you know that some of our streets, well, they’ve got some blues of their own. We have done significant patching and repairing to get ready for the race but there are still bad spots out there.
Aid Stations
Aid stations are located roughly every 2 miles through miles along the Half Marathon and Marathon Courses!. Every station will offer water and Gatorade Endurance, Energy Gels, is offered at mile 8 on the half and at miles 8, 15 and 21 on the marathon.
